Breville Mini Smart Oven Review – BOV450XL

6.7Total Score
Good toaster oven, but pricey!

Overall a solid toaster oven with a stylish, functional design and a higher than average price tag

PROS
  • 8 dedicated presets
  • Powder coated steel housing
  • 4-slice capacity
CONS
  • There are times when bread is not toasted evenly
  • It can take a while to get accustomed to its settings
  • The outside heats up very fast

Many times, you want to get a toaster oven because it’s inexpensive and efficient. However, the Breville Mini Smart Oven is one of the few models that you can find right now which seamlessly brings in front efficiency and quality in one great package. It helps you get some nifty features and an exciting visual design without too much of a hassle.

Design and Features

It’s safe to say that the Breville Mini Smart Oven has a distinct design. It looks great, and the fact that it has a dedicated dial that you can use to set the temperatures works to your advantage.  It also has a touchscreen display, which is very interesting!

The eight pre-cooking functions can be used throughout the day, and you get plenty of value from using this product for that reason alone. They did an impressive job when it comes to bringing you all the features that you might need in this package, and the product on its own has four quartz 1800W elements. They also added the Element IQ technology that prevents overheating, but which does deliver magnificent value for your money.

However, the Breville Mini Smart Oven does get pretty hot, so you should not put it under the cabinet. It needs some space for it to function properly. The handle placed on top is very easy to use, and it seamlessly offers that unique, nifty touch that you might want to bring in front for such a product.

You can place up to an 11-inch pizza here, so results can be more than ok, to begin with. If you are a fan of smart ovens, you will see that the Breville Mini Smart Oven has a lot to offer and the display which clearly tells you how much time you have to wait until the process is done can be quite helpful as well.

Breville Mini Smart Oven Performance

I tested all eight functions before writing this review, and I can tell you that there were no issues. You do need to pay attention to what you configure though because the product will do what you ask. So, for example, you shouldn’t ask for defrosting when you just want a bit of heating. The results are handled nicely, and the entire experience of using this oven is very rewarding.

Conclusion

Although it can cost up to $150, the Breville Mini Smart Oven is a very sound investment for any family. It offers some magnificent, incredibly easy to use features and the value that you can get from it will be second to none. The presets are ideal for your entire family, and they will also make cooking easier.

Many Amazon users of this oven reported that although it was a higher price tag, they preferred it to the Black and Decker and other cheaper options as they felt the quality of the Breville was superior.  That is a choice for you to make and perhaps we have been overly tough in marking the score down due to the higher price tag.
